Original era manufacture. US Vice Admiral uniform coat purchased in the US Navy Shop Brooklyn NY in 1962 when a Captain. There is a well filled out tailors tag in the right top inner pocket giving details as to ribbons and leaving room for Combat Sub Pin. Named to H.E. Shear 1918-1999, who was a career Navy officer and was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, receiving an early commission due to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. During the war he served aboard the USS Sawfish and earned the Silver Star. All of the ribbons and insignia were on the coat at the time of our purchase, but may have been collector added. The Dolphins are unmarked at appear to be of gilded brass with a horizontal attaching pin.
