Original era manufacture. A clean example serial numbered 3007 guard, likely produced in 1883. The blade is bright with no corrosion issues, scattered age staining with an unsharpened cutting edge. The point is very slightly rounded. Damage free turned wood grip. Black leather bodied scabbard originally produced with a brass hook belt attachment, but soldier modified by the removal of the brass loop, and folding the remaining leather over to create a belt loop.
