Original era manufacture. Four piece construction,cast brass buckle, with a unique attaching clasp. A very complex design for a US military buckle, and fairly difficult modelto find.The two halves fit together properly, although the brass patinahue is different, from the larger section to the clasp. Not a real issue as most of the extant buckles today are field recovered, as our example likely is. This is one of a handful of original 1880 pattern buckles we have ever have had the pleasure to own. WWII Waffen-SS buckles cost more..go figure.
