Original period manufacture. Scarce, black leather holster made by the Chicago firm of Lanz & Owen, for the 1873 pattern .45 Colt revolver and Schofield SW revolver. Shortened during the Philippine Insurrection Era to fit the modified "Artillery" model '73 Colt, those pressed back into service, to provide more stopping power than the issue .38 revolver. At some point in it's life the holster acquired an extra hole in the closure flap. The small circular leather interior disc behind the closure stud has come loose, it is present, otherwise, typical age and wear with sound stitching.
