Original period manufacture. Stamped brass insignia with a fire-gilt finish. Soldered brass loops in each corner on the reverse for attachment. Of a pattern circa 1874.This pattern insignia marked a major change in the emblem worn by the US Infantry, prior to the adoption of crossed rifles, the regular infantry were identified by a European inspired hunting horn.In unused condition. Measures just under 2.5 inches in width. Stock photo, minor details will vary, all are complete, all are in unused condition.
