Original era manufacture. Midnight blue wool bodied forage cap, with a bound leather visor, adjustable black leather chinstrap, brown leather sweatband, and an oil cloth covered disc in the crown of the hat. The remainder of the caps lining is missing.A previous owner has added period looking brass numbers and letters with Cavalry insignia. They certainly dress up the hat, making it quite attractive for display.On the very front of the hat are a few pinholes from where other insignia was placed at one time.  No mothing to mention, the visor is securely attached to the body.
