Original era manufacture. A very fine quality wool frock coat, double breasted, with the 1886 pattern shoulder knots for a 1st Lieutenant of the 3rd Infantry regiment. The uniform is very clean, with only a tiny amount of mothing; a single 2 x 5 mm hole in the chest behind the fold over, and a small snag on the left chest about 1.5 inches in length.Eagle decorated Staff officer pattern buttons throughout, with three on each cuff; which in this instance are not mere decoration, they actually serve a purpose on the functional cuff.Black velvet lined collar with a New York tailors label sewn inside. Quilted blue wool chest lining, white cotton sleeve lining, with a green polished cotton lining to the back and tails.Sadly the uniform is not identified, for what it is worth this tunic came out of the Pacific Northwest area. Size about a 38
