Original period manufacture. First general issue meatcan or messkit issued to the US Army (can't really count the M1872 contraption) which saw use in new and improved versions up through the Vietnam War, that's over 100 years. Tin finished steel body with a movable handle which is US proofed on its end and RIA proofed on the handle body. The surface now displays a peppering of surface corrosion but is quite sound, no holes or major dents. The bottom half is slightly distorted so the lid does not snap shut.
