Original era manufacture. Canvas and leather construction with loops for 44 rounds of 45-70 ammunition. Black leather chape and tongue which has been shortened to 8.5 inches, with 6 adjusting holes. Two brass rivets and remnants of the leather loop securing the saber hook remain on the left side bottom. The original brass buckle was removed by Bannerman, who replaced it with a black painted steel buckle and riveted leather chape, loosing at least one cartridge loop in the process. Normal age and wear, no fraying to the tops of the canvas loops. A sound old belt with an interesting story.
