Original period manufacture. US Army regulation dress coat for men serving in the Heavy Artillery. Midnight blue wool body with red wool piping, cuffs, and collar. Full original cotton body and sleeve lining. All of the closure buttons have been removed, along with a single button on each cuff; the epaulette buttons are present. No mothing to mention, save for a small nibble on the skirt piping, there are scattered areas of seam opening. Most are small, the largest being a three inch section behind the left shoulder. Included with the coat are an assortment of 10 large size, and two cuff size general service buttons. While some of the larger buttons vary in diameter, they will go a long way in completing the coat for display.
