Original era manufacture. A regulation pattern dark blue wool body, with a fabric bound edge, black patent leather visor with an adjustable, thin oilcloth chinstrap secured by two New York state seal buttons. Black cotton lining with a black cloth covered disc in the crown, size marked 7. Thin brown leather sweatband, which is hand stitched to the body of the hat. No moth issues to speak of, there is some marring to the patent leather surface of the visor, with some remnants of red fabric fuzz on the bottom. The two side buttons are secured with paper clips, and the chinstrap may be a replacement. Overall a sound example, of a late pattern forage cap.
