Original era manufacture. A private purchase quality hat, of regulation pattern. Dark blue body, with a bound, black painted leather visor. Adjustable leather chinstrap secured by two side buttons. The wool portion of the hat shows considerable mothing, and the leather chinstrap is missing a portion of it's length. Full original sweatband and liner, clear markings in the crown, Continental Clothing House, Boston, manufacture. Original stamped brass 1872 pattern cavalry insignia attached to the front.
