A nice quality replica of the US M1887 Hospital Corps Knife with an ORIGINAL brass mounted leather scabbard. Acid etched steel blade with a brass guard and pommel with a turned wood grip. The knife shows age, but we do not feel it to be an original example. On the other hand, the leather scabbard is, clear Rock Island Arsenal markings on the reverse, with inspector initials of B.W. It's one of those collecting oddities that the scabbards for these pattern knives are relatively common, while the knives themselves are rather scarce, usually it is the reverse. I can remember only two original examples of the 1887 Hospital Corps Knife which have passed through our hands over the years. Makes a great display piece, especially for Living History demonstrations.
