Original era manufacture. US Indian War M1887 Hospital Corps knife and original first pattern leather scabbard.The blade is very clean, no corrosion issues, just some light scratching to the surface, with a very light sharpening applied to the cutting edge.  Nickeled brass guard and pommel cap, with a turned oak grip, no cracks or chips.Watervliet marked belt loop on the scabbard, scabbard body has a brass reinforced throat, with the body displaying minor service wear, the stitching remains quite sound. According to online sources, only 650 type 1 examples were produced in 1889, with 406 examples of the type 2 produced in 1891.
