Original era manufacture. Unissued condition haversack showing storage and handling wear only. Clear U.S. stencil on the flap, with a very clear Waterviliet Arsenal 1885 mark and date under the flap. Comes with a proper pattern haversack shoulder strap, unmarked, in a very dark brown color. The strap is pliable with no dry rot. This is the earliest dated example of this pattern haversack I have ever seen, and condition to boot! Geronimo was still on the loose when this was made.
