Original era manufacture. Stamped and gilded brass insignia with a screwpost reverse. In the regular US Army the 25th Infantry was comprised of black soldiers, who along with their brothers in the 25th Infantry and 9th & 10th Cavalry regiments were collectively known as Buffalo Soldiers. During the mid to late 19th Century the 25th Infantry served in the American West and during the Spanish American War went to Cuba.
