Original era manufacture. US M1878 Canteen with a tan canvas cover with US stencil. The canteen is complete with its original cork stopper secured to one of the triangular loops found on each side of the body. The body is pretty much dent free, no fraying or holes in the cover, just typical soiling from age and use. Attached to the canteen is an original period haversack shoulder strap, not the correct narrow type canteen sling, but likely a lot more comfortable in use.
