Original era manufacture. US M1878 Canteen with a tan canvas cover with US stencil. The canteen is complete with its original cork stopper secured to a triangular loop found on each side of the body. The body is very clean with a clear US, has some dents but nothing detracting, no fraying or holes in the cover, just typical light soiling from age and use. Attached to the canteen is an original period haversack shoulder strap which shows considerable wear and use.
