Original era manufacture. M1878 tan canvas covered circular canteen with a stenciled US on its cover. Original cork stopper with chain in the spout with two triangular suspension loops on the sides. Two brass hooks, one on each side for the shoulder strap are in place. There is some light staining to the cover and a shallow dent or two towards the bottom of the canteen. The US stencil is sharp and clear, nice canteen.
