Original era manufacture. Issue pattern mess knife and fork which appear in the Ordnance Memoranda No. 29 in 1885. Interestingly the issue spoon shown accompanying the knife and fork in the memoranda is of the same pattern used up into the early WWII years. Sometimes these utensils will be U.S. marked, in this instance these two are not, however the knife handle displays a patent date of Dec. 9. 82, and the fork, July 18. 1893. Normal age and wear, no issues.
