Original era manufacture. An early example made without the brass reinforcement on the closure strap. All black leather construction, with two rows of 10 canvas loops for 45-70 cartridges. Two belt loops on the reverse, to which have been attached black painted buttons, perhaps to affix a shoulder strap for parade wear. Watervliet Arsenal marked.
