Original era manufacture. Post 1872 sword with a slightly curved, 3.4 inch wide blade width at the ricasso, which length measures 28 inches with a more archaic etched design on both sides of the blade. The blade runs fairly straight and true with no corrosion issues, having a scattering of light nail catchers along it's length, more felt than seen. Pleasing brass patina finish to the guard and pommel, dark gray fish skin wrapped grip bound with triple strand wire. Eagle decorated pommel cap with the bird looking to it's left. Nice vintage looking gold wire sword knot properly wrapped around the guard. Wooden bodied scabbard which is wrapped with the same color fish skin as the grip, with a electrical tape repair (what would we ever do without that stuff!) between the two lower brass scabbard mounts. Very 19th century quality overall, but I believe it to be post Civil War.
