Original era manufacture. M1878 tan canvas covered circular canteen with a stenciled US on its cover. Original cork stopper with chain in the spout with two triangular suspension loops on the sides. Company C, 201 NY.There is some staining to the cover from service use, and a dent or two in the body, the deepest being on the reverse. The cover stitching is sound.Surface corrosion to the suspension loops, both still can be moved.
