Original era manufacture. US M1878 Canteen with a tan canvas cover with a clear US stencil on the cover. The canteen is complete with its original cork stopper secured to a brass loop attached to the neck of the canteen.The cover is clean, some minor staining from service use, there are a few shallowdents but nothing detracting, no fraying or holes in the cover, just typical light soiling from age and use.Attached to the canteen is an original period and correct leather canteen sling, which is quite pliable for its age, no visible markings.
