US IW-SAW Era Army Artillery Corporal 5-Button Coat

Item #68575 : Original period manufacture. Dark blue wool 5-button front service coat, showing details of an issue quality coat, mixed with private purchase embellishments. Five button front as stated, with three smaller buttons on each cuff. Dark steel blue wool body lining, with fan-shaped decorative red cotton stitching in the lining material. White cotton sleeve lining with a hand written 15 in each shoulder. On the right side edge of the front of the coat is a decorative sawtooth edge to the wool fabric. On each sleeve is a red wool 1872 pattern corporal chevron. Size of the coat is about a 36-38 regular. There is a 6x7 mm moth hole on rear of the top left shoulder, this has been mitigated by darkening of the backing material. There are two other smaller moth bites on the same shoulder, these have been treated in the same manner making them difficult to see. Lastly there is a small moth bit on the rear of the coat at the bottom of the tail. Overall the coat is very clean, with the red chevrons offering a nice contrast to the dark blue of the coat.
