US IW-WWI Era Bannerman Style Army Insignia Pillow Cover, Cavalry Cords

Item #68041 : Original period manufacture. This wonderful creation illustrates the creativity that firms like Francis Bannerman would attempt in years past, in order to retail the immense amounts of military surplus once held under their roofs. I have seen several of these over the years and have always admired them, always hoping to add one to our collection. At our recent Phoenix Militaria Show I had the opportunity to purchase 3 of them, one we will keep for our own collection, the other two we will offer here. While each is similar in intent, the overall design and insignia used to create these colorful covers, varies a good deal. In this instance the insignia are all machine sewn to two panels of a thin canvas, with the insignia dating from the 1870's up through WWI. It goes without saying, that sadly, many of these creations were destroyed for that special piece of insignia by we collectors, and, as many of the insignia overlap, the insignia beneath the desired treasure were also destroyed in the process. The overall condition is excellent, the colors are strong and bright, and the geometric design is quite pleasing. We have added a photo lifted from the 1945 edition of the Bannerman catalog illustrating similar covers that they once offered for sale for comparison.
