Original era manufacture. Guard marked M4 bayonet made by Utica, with old cleaned corrosion pitting on the surface of the blade. The finish however is quite clean, possibly a refurbishment done by the USMC in the 1950's. Unusual carved wooden grip, with bakelite spacers top and bottom. This grip style is illustrated in both Jantzen and Kiesling's, reportedly an attempt to alleviate the problems with moisture and humidity in tropical duty stations. One online source states this style was installed on Okinawa in the late 40's, early 1950's by the Marine Corps. M8A1 marked scabbard without the metal piece on the tip. Very clean overall.
