Original era manufacture.A tinned steel lancer pattern helmet, with a removable oil cloth foul weather cover. As stated, the helmet is made of tinned steel, with traces of an old black paint remaining on the exterior, and holes in the front for an emblem of some sort. There are uniform holesaround the lower edge of the helmet body which once held a liner in place.Black paint on the underside of the visor. The removable cover is of black malleable paint over a thin white canvas. Theopening was secured by tiny black painted hooks & eyes, of which two remain. Perhaps theatrical, but more likely a militia, or fraternal organization. Typical age and wear.
