Original era manufacture. Woven tan canvas belt with 50 loops for .38 pistol ammunition. MILLS marked stamped brass rectangular US plate which measures about 2.75x2.25 inches. According to Steven Dorsey in his book "American Military and Naval Belts, 1812-1902", he states on page 313 that an eyewitness back in the day saw a Bannerman's employee unwrapping these pattern buckles fresh from the crate and dropping them into a melting pot. This perhaps explains the scarcity of the pattern. Two removable wire equipment loops at the bottom, one with a hook for a sabre suspension. Normal age and wear.
