Original era manufacture. A similar helmet as our item 39710, in that it appears to be of a Militia, or perhaps a societal organization rather than a military issue piece of headgear, perhaps Polish in origin. One piece crown and mortarboard, covered in a brushed wool material in red and blue, with white cloth tape trim around the base of the mortarboard, and thinner whitecloth edging to the top.The curved visor has a one inch wide band of silver wire decoration on its leading edge, and is a bit loose at present. Thin leather sweatband with a dark green, silk-like lining material. On each side of the helmet is a large brass boss, decorated with the face of a Lion, and on the back of the helmet is a piece of black painted oilcloth trim.No other emblems or insignia are included, however there is evidence on the front of the helmet of a large insignia once being placed there.Needs some restoration done to it, but it presents a good base upon which to begin.
