Original era manufacture. I'm not really sure of the true age of this nice quality case, or who even made it. I can say that it has been in my possession since the early 1980's, being used by me to store my C-Series '51 Navy Colt in during Living History events and displays. This might actually be for an Army model pistol as the interior partition is a tad too big for the Navy model pistol. Regardless it worked well for me and now is offered here. The case is of oak, with five internal compartments all lined with red velvet. The compartments show staining from use and wear, but are otherwise sound. The box measures 15 3/4 x 7 1/4 x 2 1/4 inches with brass hinges and a clasp lock (no key). It has traveled with me to the 125th Anniversary Re-enactments of Shiloh, Gettysburg, Wilderness-Spotsylvania and Saylor's Creek Appomattox Court House 1987-1990. I also had it with me during the filming of the movie Gettysburg in 1993, plus many, many local events and presentations here in Arizona and New Mexico. It's been a good old friend all these years, but I was recently able to purchase a Colt manufactured, early pattern case for the C-Series Navy along with the correct Colt accoutrements, so now my old pistol rests in style.
