Original era manufacture. A fine example of the US Model 1816 Flintlock pistol adopted after the War of 1812.Crisp and clear markings as shown, with an operable lock which holds on half and full cock. Nice luster patina to the wooden stock, with a few hairline cracks in the surface on the left side; one extending up from the forward lock screw, the second extending up from the rear screw, and a third extending below the rear lock screw. Really minor in the scheme of things, something to be expected after 200 years of handling and age. All in all it is a beautiful example of its type, original hickory ramrod intact, comes with an original US marked tool, and a nice letter of provenance tracing it back to the late Robert L. Harris collection. The letter is written on the letterhead of a retired US Air Force Major General.
