Original era manufacture. Recently purchased from a local family whose oral history relates its use by a Doctor during the American Civil War. The serial number 225947 places its manufacture in late 1863. The same serial number can be seen on the base of the barrel, loading lever, pistol frame, trigger guard and butt. The cylinder and wedge do not match. Traces of blue finish can be seen on the barrel and traces of case hardening can be seen on the underside of the loading lever. Original finish to the walnut grips, with a chip out of the toe of the right grip plate. The pistol cocks and indexes properly with minimal movement to the cylinder. Decent Stagecoach scene on the cylinder. A sound old Civil War era pistol never before in a collection.
