Original era manufacture. A clean example of the scaled down version of the issue 45-70 socket bayonet, with a proper 1874 pattern, matching length scabbard with brass US disc. The blade measures 16.5 in length (normally 18 inches), displaying a satin blue finish to it's surface and the socket. Minor surface corrosion spotting, overall about 90% of the blue remains. Mix of blue and steel patina finish to the steel bodied scabbard, which is of the proper length for the Cadet pattern blade. The surface has scattered spots of surface corrosion, with the leather frog securely attached to the scabbard body. Less than 10,000 Cadet rifles were produced in the late 19th Century.
