Original era manufacture. Tan canvas haversack with original and proper pattern black leather shoulder strap. U.S. marked on the flap, which is quite bold, leading me to think this may have been soldier enhanced in the past, as the ink matches one of the ID's on the interior. Inside the body displays two names with the initials of a third. The clearest is of a A. Coussens, Bky (Bakery) Co. 313. There is a great photo online of the 313th in France baking away. Excellent subject for further research.
