Original era manufacture. Khaki cotton drill covered, cork bodied helmet in sound condition, with its original painted leather chinstrap.The leather sweatband is size marked 7, and displays a tear at the front, an easy repair. The body is very sound, no tears in the fabric, and no breaks in the cork. Stamped brass Cavalry helmet plate and side buttons, with a removable brass spike and floral base. While not regulation, many of these helmets have been dressed out in this fashion. By the patina of the metal this example has been in this configuration for many years.
