Original period manufacture. Bright finished blade pommel and guard with a US proof and 1894 date on the ricasso. The blade is bright with some scattered staining along its surface with an unsharpened edge, with evidence of old cleaned corrosion and light pitting.The scabbard body is dent free, with a rather splotchy blue finish. Original wooden grips which some nimrod carved a set of initials into, perhaps the soldier himself. The are otherwise free of damage.Nice early date, and one that may have gone to Cuba or Puerto Rico in '98.
