Original period manufacture. Bright finished blade pommel and guard with a US proof and 1895 date on the ricasso. The blade is bright with some scattered staining along its surface with an unsharpened edge, no pitting or corrosion damage. The scabbard body is nearly dent free, with asmall dent near the tip, and a similar size dent on the reverse of the body. Original wooden grips with some marring and light chipping on the top portions of each grip plage. Dark steel patina finish to the guard and pommel. Nice early date, and one that may have gone to Cuba or Puerto Rico in '98.
