Original period manufacture. Bright finished, very clean blade with a US proof and 1898 date on the ricasso. The blade is bright with no evidence of sharpening, just some scattered areas of staining, with a thin film of cosmoline remaining on the surface. Original finis wood grips with two flush-ground steel rivets, very minor light marring and denting from age and use. Bright finish to the guard and pommel, intact and operable lock button. Scattered minor staining on the surface. Very clean blue finished steel 2nd pattern scabbard, with no denting. Classic Spanish-American War service bayonet.
