Original period manufacture. Bright finished, very clean blade with a US proof and 1898 date on the ricasso. The blade is bright with no evidence of abuse, just some scattered areas of staining. Original dark wood grips with two flush-ground steel rivets, very minor light marring and denting from age and use. Bright steel guard and pommel, each with a spot of light surface corrosion, intact and operable lock button. Scattered minor staining on the surface. Clean steel patina finished 2nd pattern scabbard, with no denting. Classic Spanish-American War service bayonet.
