Original period manufacture. Bright finished blade with a US proof and 1898 date on the ricasso. The blade is bright with some scattered staining along its surface with evidence of old service sharpening to the edge. Dark wood original grips with typical marring and denting from age and use. Mix of blue and steel patina finish to the guard and pommel, intact and operable lock button. Scattered light surface corrosion remaining on the surface. Blue steel finished scabbard with some scattered light denting throughout, mix of blue finish and steel patina, with light surface corrosion.Needs a light bath, but honest in every way.
