Original era manufacture. Polished steel blade with a 1899 date on the  ricasso. Scattered spotting and staining to the blade surface but no pitting. There are some shallow indentations on the spine, and one small tweak in the cutting edge. Faint evidence of an old sharpening.  Dark steel patina finish to the guard and pommel, original wood grips which display typical light marring and denting from service use, no cracks or chips. Steel patina finish to the 1st pattern scabbard which pivots easily.
