Original era manufacture. A clean example of the pattern of hat which replaced the iconic Kepi for wear by the US Army in 1895. Dark blue wool top, wide brown leather sweatband, with a patent leather visor and chinstrap. Stamped Inspected 1900 N.G.N.Y.An original gilded brass 2nd Cavalry, G Troop hat insignia adorns the front of the hat, which may or may not be original to the hat. As we all know its' a simple matter to replace the insignia, but having a Cavalry emblem in place is not a bad thing. Overall the hat displays normal age and wear, no moth issues to report. Black leather adjustable chinstrap with two IW pattern buttons, one on each side. Black cotton lining with stenciled numbers 1 over 7 in the crown. U-shaped tear in the top of the sweatband in the front, stitching loose on the sides however the sweatband is not loose.
