Original era manufacture. Based on the US M1860 Cavalry sword but with a steel guard. The polished steel blade measures 35 inches in length, running straight and true, with scattered areas of minor age stainign, overall, the blade remains bright and the point is sharp. Stamped into the obverse ricassso ASCO 1906, and on the reverse, US JC. Black finished, leather covered wooden grip with single twisted wire binding. There is scuffing to the leather surface with exposed wood below the pommel. Steel guard and pommel with a bronze-color finish, perhaps paint, applied to the surface. This finish shows wear, no corrosion issues with the guard. Correct steel scabbard, with the close-set suspension ring loops, again showing the same bronze color finish as the guard. Corrosion bubbling to the surface above the drag.
