Original era manufacture. Based on the US M1860 Cavalry sword but with a steel guard. The polished steel blade measures 35 inches in length, running straight and true, with scattered areas of old cleaned corrosion. Overall, the blade remains bright and the point is sharp.Stamped into the obverse ricassso ASCO 1906, and on the reverse, US JHC, with a post production prop house stamp of U.C.I. 77 (United Costume). The blackened steel guard also has the same markings stamped on the pommel. Original black leather covered grip bound with single strand wire.  The scabbard is for an 1840 pattern sword, but fits this blade well. The surface displays an old plated finish, with scattered denting from service and theatrical use.
