Original era manufacture. Heavy, French inspired cavalry sabre, with the polished steel blade running straight and true. No issues with the blade beyond some minor spotting to the surface, with a steel patina to the surface; no corrosion of nicks in the edge. US and inspector proofed NWP on the obverse ricasso, and on the reverse, N.P. AMES CABOTVILLE 1845.Dark brass patina finish to the three branch guard. Original leather covering to the tapered grip, but most of the original wire binding is missing. Two suspension ring steel scabbard in very sound condition, dark steel patina, freckling from old surface corrosion, no denting.
