Original period manufacture. A complete example of the 1880 pattern US Army Sun Helmet, displaying a Horstmann 1893 contract label on the interior. The helmet body is not crushed or dented, it retains its proper white painted leather chinstrap, with a 6 3/4 size marked brown leather sweatband. Minor mothing to the green wool chintz visor lining. Minor age staining and yellowing to the white canvas covered exterior. This is about as decent an example as one can expect to find today. Likely never worn, just storage wear and age.
