Original era manufacture. A clean example of the regulation US Army Officers Sword adopted in 1902, and still the regulation pattern today. The plated steel blade measures 34 inches in length, with etched panels on both sides of the blade. On the obverse is a panel displaying the name in gothic script, James M. Graham Jr. '38. The blade is clean, unsharpened, with no nicks in the cutting edge. Just minor age and wear, running straight and true. Alloy guard and backstrap with a molded black composition grip. Plated finish steel scabbard with two suspension rings with no denting to the surface. A very clean sword with no issues. Doing a quick look on Ancestry shows a 1st Lieutenant James M. Graham Jr of Pennsylvania, serving as a co-pilot on B-24J42-52075 of the 454th Bomb Group. He and the 11 other crew were lost due to Flak damage on the 28th of February 1945, during a mission over Isarco-Albes Italy. On my initial search I found him with a birth year of 1918, so the name and dates line up and provide a solid basis for additional research.
