Original era manufacture. Early contract of 10,000 delivered to the US Government in 1820-22. This example is complete with its original sheet steel scabbard which retains both carrying rings but is missing one throat screw. 32.5 inch curved steel blade which was lightly sharpened years ago for service use. Well marked on the obverse ricasso US P LS (Luther Sage inspector)N.Starr. The original leather bumper is present at the base of the blade. Fragments of the original leather grip covering remain, however the wooden grip itself is quite nice with a pleasing patina.
