Original era manufacture. A very handsome, large format medal with a very nice enameled obverse. There is a small chip in the enamel on the left arm of the cross just above the palm tree. The red-white-blue silk ribbon is a replacement but does not glow under a UV light. During the Spanish American War-Philippine Insurrection, the 10th Pennsylvania Infantry arrived in the Philippines in July of 1898 and participated in several engagements returning to the USA in July of 1899. On their return voyage the commanding officer of the 10th, Colonel Hawkins, died from illness.
